Job Description
The Food & Beverage Departmental Trainer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering all training initiatives within the Food & Beverage Department. This is an operational role that reports to the Director of Food & Beverage and works closely with the Learning & Development team.
The role ensures service excellence, operational consistency, and full compliance with brand standards, LQA requirements, and hotel policies. This position plays a key role in developing Food & Beverage team members by enhancing service skills, product knowledge, and guest engagement across all dining outlets and banquet operations.
Responsibilities
Act as a role model for all Heartists by consistently demonstrating brand values and service culture.
Develop and implement a structured 90-day onboarding program for new team members and serve as a buddy during their first 30 days.
Design, implement, and deliver comprehensive training programs for all F&B outlets, including restaurants, bars, and banquet operations.
Conduct onboarding, refresher, and ongoing skills training for new hires and existing team members.
Deliver training on service sequences, guest engagement standards, upselling techniques, and complaint handling in line with brand and LQA standards.
Develop, update, and maintain training materials including SOPs, manuals, checklists, videos, and assessments.
Ensure all F&B service standards comply with brand guidelines and Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) requirements.
Conduct regular service audits and training needs analyses based on LQA results and internal audits.
Collaborate closely with outlet managers to address service gaps and implement corrective training action plans.
Partner with F&B Management, Culinary, and Banquet teams to ensure training content reflects actual operational practices.
Support new concept launches, promotional menu rollouts, and special events through targeted training initiatives.
Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, observations, guest feedback, and LQA performance results.
Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, and competency tracking.
Provide operational support during peak business periods when required.
Supervise and coach F&B team members during VIP events to ensure exceptional service standards are consistently delivered.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Food & Beverage Department of a 5-star hotel, preferably at Assistant Manager level or above, in an operational role.
Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field.
Proven exposure to diverse dining concepts, including all-day dining, fine dining, specialty restaurants, bars, and banquet operations.
Strong knowledge of LQA standards and luxury service expectations, with hands-on implementation experience.
Previous experience in conducting or facilitating training programs is highly preferred.
Excellent communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
Strong organizational and planning abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
