1. Position Summary

The Application Support / Legacy Systems Developer is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing legacy enterprise applications operating within HP-UX and Microsoft Windows server environments. The role involves developing and troubleshooting Unix Shell scripts, supporting database operations, and maintaining applications built with legacy technologies such as Microsoft Visual FoxPro, Gupta SQL Windows, and Clipper. The position provides first-line technical support, performs bug fixes, and assists in system testing, deployments, and documentation. Working closely with senior developers and system administrators, the role ensures stability, reliability, and continuous operation of legacy systems while supporting ongoing maintenance and incremental improvements.

2. Key Responsibilities

Core Technical Tasks:

•Maintain, enhance, and support legacy enterprise applications on HP-UX and Windows servers.

•Develop and troubleshoot Unix Shell scripts for automation and system operations.

•Perform database support and execute basic queries in Oracle Pro*C, Oracle Database 8/9, and Microsoft SQL Server 7.0.

•Maintain and updated applications built with Microsoft Visual FoxPro, Gupta SQL Windows, and Clipper.

•Identify and resolve application bugs and operational issues in legacy systems.

Project & Strategy

•Assist in application enhancements and updates to legacy enterprise systems.

•Participate in system deployments, testing, and implementation of changes.

•Support the ongoing stability and modernization efforts of legacy platforms under guidance from senior developers.

Security & Compliance

•Follow organizational procedures and standards when maintaining and updating enterprise applications.

•Ensure safe handling of database operations and system access within legacy environments.

Collaboration & Support

•Provide first-line technical support for application issues.

•Work closely with senior developers and system administrators to maintain system operations.

•Assist in testing and troubleshooting during deployments and system updates.

Documentation

•Support the documentation of application changes, fixes, and deployments.

•Maintain basic technical records and notes related to system updates and troubleshooting activities.

4. Required Qualifications

•Experience: Minimum 2 years in application development or support roles.

•Technical Skills:

HP-UX Server B11.31 and Unix Shell Scripting.

Microsoft Windows Server NT 4.0/2000 SP4/2003.

Microsoft Visual FoxPro 6.0/7.0 and Microsoft Access 2000.

Gupta SQLWindows 5.0 and Clipper.

Oracle Pro*C and Oracle Database 8/9.

Microsoft SQL Server 7.0.

OpenSSH for secure file transfers.

•Basic understanding of application deployment and version control practices.

•Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
