Job Description
We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join our client Data Center Team. In this role, you will help maintain the security, integrity, and operational efficiency of our data center by supporting hardware, IT equipment, and facility operations. You’ll manage equipment installations, moves, additions, and changes while ensuring compliance with safety procedures, access control standards, and company policies. You will also provide timely troubleshooting, on-site support, and vendor coordination to ensure smooth data center operations.

What You Will Do:
Perform installation, relocation, addition, and change (IMAC) of IT hardware, including servers, storage, network, and backup devices.
Decommission IT equipment safely, including networks, servers, storage, and backup devices, following approved disposal procedures.
Manage media destruction and disposal of HDDs and SSDs in compliance with data security policies.
Connect and disconnect patch cables and other hardware components within the data center.
Provide server hardware break/fix support, including installation, reseating modules, and replacement of HDDs, memory, mainboards, SFP modules, and other components.
Conduct regular physical and visual inspections of equipment and data center operations facilities to ensure optimal performance.
Provide on-site support during scheduled maintenance, upgrades, or change events.
Troubleshoot issues related to IT and network equipment to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate inventory records for RMA items, cold spares, equipment, and tools.
Coordinate with vendors, including escorting and supervising external personnel during on-site activities.
Manage data center access requests and ensure compliance with security protocols.
Support Point-of-Presence (POP) site operations and remain on standby as required.
Provide regular reporting on progress for moves, changes, support requests, and maintenance tasks, while continuously identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Deliver after-hours support based on on-call schedules and shift rotations as needed.
Perform any other duties assigned to support data center operations and business continuity.
What We Are Looking For:
Good understanding of structured cabling and patching
Experience in hardware support, break/fix, and troubleshooting
Ability to respond to issues promptly, provide timely updates, and escalate when necessary
Experience in a large-scale critical environment is a plus
Vigilant and attentive during duties
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Preferred Skills & Certifications (Optional):
Experience in data center operations, including rack, space, power, and cooling allocations for new installations or relocations
Knowledge of capacity management (space, power, cooling, and patch panel port availability)
Familiarity with Incident and Change Management processes
Understanding of DC space, power, and cooling management
Relevant certifications such as CDCP, ITIL, Server+, Linux+, Network+, A+, CCNA
Basic knowledge of IT equipment (servers, racks, cabling)
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to support operational efficiency
