1. Position Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and high availability of the organization’s database systems. It involves installing, configuring, and maintaining databases, while enforcing consistent database policies, standards, and best practices. The position works closely with application development teams to refine logical and physical data models, ensuring optimal database structure and alignment with application requirements.

A key focus of the role is performance optimization—monitoring, tuning, and maintaining database systems to deliver efficient and reliable operations. The position also troubleshoots and resolves database errors, provides expert analysis on system issues, and ensures robust data protection by designing, managing, and testing comprehensive backup and recovery strategies. Overall, this role plays a critical part in safeguarding data integrity and supporting the organization’s mission-critical applications.

2. Key Responsibilities

Install and Configure Database Systems:

•Deploy, configure, and optimize database environments to ensure security, reliability, and high availability.

Establish and Maintain Database Standards:

•Define, document, and enforce database policies, standards, and best practices to support consistent and secure operations.

Support Application Development Teams:

•Collaborate with developers to refine logical and physical data models, ensuring efficient database design and alignment with application needs.

Optimize Database Performance:

•Monitor, tune, and maintain database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective measures for optimal system efficiency.

Diagnose and Troubleshoot Issues:

•Investigate and resolve database errors, performance problems, and system issues to maintain uninterrupted service availability.

Manage Backup and Recovery Processes:

•Design, implement, test, and maintain robust database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

4. Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor in Computer Science or related discipline

Good written and verbal communication skills in English, Mandarin and Cantonese is a plus.

Years of Experience:

•6 Years of relevant working experiences in Database Management technology

Technical Stack:

•Extensive experienced with the following database technologies: MS SQLServer, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MariaDB/MySQL

•Strong command of SQL and DBA tools.

•Strong understanding of database modeling.

•Experienced in working with Linux and Windows environments.

•Familiarity with scripting tools such as Unix scripts and Windows PowerShell.

•Familiarity with popular programming languages such as Java, .Net, NodeJs.

Core Competencies:

•Good verbal and communication skills.

•Can work independently

5. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to have)

Advanced Skills:

Certifications:

•Holder of ITIL Foundation or above is a plus.

•Relevant Database software certifications (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL) are a plus.
