Finishing Manager

Job Description:
Production Oversight

Lead and monitor daily finishing operations including polishing, chamfering, squaring, and sorting lines.

Ensure production targets are met with minimal defects or rework.

Coordinate with upstream and downstream processes to maintain workflow continuity.

Manpower & Team Supervision

Manage and schedule technicians, operators, and supervisors within the finishing section.

Train staff on operating procedures, inspection standards, and workplace safety.

Enforce discipline, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Process & Quality Control

Ensure finishing standards (e.g., flatness, gloss level, edge squareness) meet product specifications.

Conduct regular inspections and quality audits; implement corrective actions when needed.

Collaborate with the QA team to analyze root causes of defects and prevent recurrence.

Machine & Maintenance Coordination

Monitor machine conditions and liaise with maintenance for preventive and breakdown servicing.

Track downtime and participate in troubleshooting to restore productivity.

Suggest machine upgrades or process automation opportunities

Material & Inventory

Control usage of polishing abrasives, brushes, and chemicals.

Ensure minimal material wastage and efficient use of consumables.

Coordinate with warehouse/packing for proper flow of finished goods.


Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or any related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in ceramic tile manufacturing, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role in the finishing department.

Strong knowledge of tile finishing processes such as polishing, squaring, chamfering, and sorting.

Familiarity with inspection criteria, packaging standards, and inventory flow.

In-depth understanding of finishing machinery, polishing abrasives, and defect types

Able to interpret technical drawings, quality specifications, and production metrics.

Basic proficiency in Excel and production reporting systems.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices is an added advantage.

Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
