Principal Industrial Engineer

Responsibilities

Analyze manufacturing workflows and identify bottlenecks across assembly and test processes.

Develop and implement improvements to reduce cycle time, increase throughput, and improve yield.

Establish and maintain standard work procedures and process documentation with Process and Test Engineering.

Perform capacity modelling and forecasting to support Engineering, NPI, and production ramp plans.

Conduct line balancing and manpower optimization studies.

Support equipment utilization tracking and improvement initiatives with Equipment Engineering.

Drive cost reduction programs through process optimization and waste elimination.

Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency.

Analyze production data, develop dashboards, and provide data-driven insights using AI tools/software.

Lead Kaizen, Lean, and continuous improvement projects with CM partners.

Design and optimize factory layout and workstation ergonomics to improve material flow and space utilization.

Support NPI by defining efficient manufacturing flows and reviewing new machine purchases for capacity and efficiency planning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.

Minimum 12 years of experience in semiconductor, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and industrial engineering tools; Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred.

Experience with capacity planning, time studies, line balancing, and equipment utilization (OEE, MTBF).

Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, JMP, AI applications) and familiarity with MES/manufacturing data environments.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.

Experience in silicon photonics / optical engine assembly, fiber attach, laser alignment, photonic IC packaging, and exposure to high-speed optical modules (TOSA/ROSA – 100G/400G/800G) are added advantages.
