Duties and Responsibilities
a) Planning, Teaching and Learning
Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes and/or subjects, following school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work.
Plan lesson plans with recognition on the variety of learning abilities of students, explore similarities and differences between cultures and differing perspectives, and focus directly on prejudice or equality issues.
Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned students, making accurate and productive use of assessments.
Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of students.
Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students.
Promote excellent progress and outcomes by students by negotiating, planning and attaining with evidence to raise level of achievements by students.
Demonstrate excellent subject and curriculum knowledge.
Demonstrate quality of teaching from “beginning” to “developing” and finally to “mastering”.
Participate in arrangements for preparing students for external tests and/or examinations.
b) Company-wide Strategy and Development
Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
Work with others on curriculum and student development to secure coordinated outcomes.
Provide cover, in the unforeseen circumstances that another teacher is unable to teach.
c) Health, Safety and Discipline
Promote the safety and wellbeing of students.
Maintain good order and discipline among students, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.
d) Professional Development
Take part in the school’s appraisal procedures.
Take part in further training and development to improve own teaching.
Take part in the appraisal and professional development of others, where appropriate.
e) Communication and working with colleagues/other relevant professionals
Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues always.
Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the Company.
Develop and build effective professional relationships with colleagues.
f) Personal and Professional Conduct
Uphold professional and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviours at all times, within and outside the Company.
Have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the Company, and maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.
Understand and conduct within the statutory frameworks setting out professional duties and responsibilities.
g) Management of employees and resources
Where relevant, direct and supervise employees assigned, and where appropriate, other teaching colleagues.
Contribute to the professional development of other teaching colleagues and employees.
Deploy resources as needed following approvals.
h) Commitment to Safeguarding and Child Protection
Work in line with Company’s policies, procedures and guidance in the safeguarding and child protection.
Work with school leaders and/or head of departments to promote the best interests of students, including sharing and reporting concerns where necessary.
Promote the safeguarding of all students in the school.
