System Engineer

Job Summary
The On''Prem Data Center Engineer is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of on''premises data center infrastructure. The role ensures reliable, secure, and efficient operation of servers, storage, networking equipment, and supporting systems.

Key Responsibilities Server & Virtualization Management Install, configure, and maintain physical servers across Dell/HPE/Lenovo platforms.

Manage virtualization environments (VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper''V). Perform OS deployment, patching, updates, and performance tuning on Windows/Linux servers. Storage & Backup

Administer SAN/NAS solutions including LUN configuration, RAID, zoning, and storage capacity planning. Manage enterprise backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Veritas) and ensure backup/restore reliability. Networking & Security

Support data center network operations including switches, firewalls, VLANs, routing, and ACL configuration. Enforce physical and logical security standards, patch compliance, and system hardening. Monitoring & Troubleshooting

Utilize monitoring tools (PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix, Nagios) for proactive issue detection. Diagnose and resolve server, network, storage, and hardware related incidents. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and maintain documentation and SOPs.

Data Center Operations Manage rack layout, cabling, PDUs, UPS, cooling, and environmental controls. Conduct hardware lifecycle management'¿installations, decommissioning, vendor coordination, and inventory tracking.

Required Qualifications Bachelor'¿s degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent experience. 3'¿10 years of hands on experience supporting on prem data center environments.

Strong knowledge of servers, virtualization, storage technologies, and networking fundamentals. Experience with backup/DR processes and monitoring tools. Preferred Skills

Certifications: VMware VCP, Microsoft Server/Azure, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Server+/Network+. Familiarity with automation or scripting (PowerShell/Bash/Python). Experience with hybrid cloud or migration projects.

Soft Skills Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Good communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities.

Ability to work in high pressure and 24ÿ7 support environments.
