Legal Executive (Construction)

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide legal support on contractual matters, particularly related to construction and engineering projects using FIDIC contract forms. The role focuses on reviewing, drafting, advising, and ensuring contract compliance to protect the company’s legal and commercial interests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare, review, and negotiate construction contracts, including FIDIC contracts, subcontracts, and procurement agreements.

Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company policies.

Provide legal guidance on contractual rights, obligations, and risk assessments.

Ensure compliance with construction laws, environmental regulations, and safety standards.

Handle contract disputes, claims, and arbitration in accordance with FIDIC and other governing laws.

Assist in litigation matters and coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary.

Identify and mitigate legal risks in construction projects.

Conduct due diligence on contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

Keep updated on legal and regulatory changes affecting the construction industry.

Ensure adherence to corporate governance and compliance with statutory requirements.

Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and senior management to provide legal insights.

Support and manage corporate exercises such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including providing training and briefings to enhance awareness and understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and compliance requirements across the organization.

Liaise with government authorities, clients, and subcontractors to resolve legal issues.

Comply with Quality, Health & Safety Policies.

SUPERVISION:

Receives daily supervision and workload from Finance Director.

Receives general supervision from Managing Director when required.
