Job Description – Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location : Lot 2889, Lebuh Kampung Jawa, FIZ Phase 3,11900 Bayan Lepas, Penang Malaysia

Employment : Permanent Position
Reporting To : Engineering Manager / CTO

Salary : MYR 8,000 – 9,000 per month (depending on experience)

Working Hours : 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday (Over time is required)




Position Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the mechanical design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and enclosures for performance lighting products. This role requires strong technical expertise, design ownership, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
· Lead mechanical design and development of lighting housings, brackets, heat sinks, and structural components.

· Translate product requirements into detailed mechanical designs and specifications.

· Review and approve mechanical drawings, tolerances, materials, and surface finishes.

· Conduct thermal, structural, and reliability considerations for high-performance lighting products.

· Support prototype build, validation testing, and design verification activities.

· Work closely with electronics, optics, and production teams for system integration.

· Support cost reduction, DFM/DFA, and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Technical Requirements
· Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.

· Proficient in 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or equivalent.

· Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, GD&T, and material selection.

· Experience with thermal management, structural design, and vibration considerations.

· Familiar with manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, Injection Molding, Die casting, and extrusion.

· Experience in performance lighting or industrial product design is an advantage.

Qualifications & Experience
· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

· Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.

· Experience supporting manufacturing and mass production environments.

Language Requirement
Preferred candidates should be able to communicate effectively in the following languages:

· Chinese (Optional, reading or speaking)

· English

· Bahasa Malaysia
