Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Operate and monitor the kiln, calciner, and related process equipment from the CCR in accordance with established operating procedures.
Maintain stable kiln operation to achieve optimal clinker production rate while ensuring process stability.
Control and optimize Stable Heat Consumption (SHC) by maintaining efficient combustion, stable flame conditions, and proper fuel feeding.
Monitor and control critical kiln parameters, including:
Kiln inlet temperature
Burning zone temperature
Calciner temperature
Preheater draft and pressure
Kiln torque and kiln speed
Oxygen (O₂), CO, and NOx levels
Ensure clinker quality targets are achieved, including proper formation of clinker phases and avoidance of under-burning or over-burning.
Coordinate closely with the laboratory to monitor and respond to clinker quality results such as free lime, LSF, clinker whiteness.
Adjust operational parameters based on laboratory feedback to maintain consistent clinker quality.
Minimize fuel consumption while maintaining stable kiln operation and meeting production targets.
Monitor kiln coating condition and take appropriate actions to prevent coating collapse or excessive build-up.
Detect early signs of operational problems, such as cyclone blockage, coating instability, or process upsets, and take corrective actions.
Communicate effectively with field operators to verify equipment conditions and execute operational adjustments safely.
Report any process abnormalities, equipment malfunction, or safety hazards to the Shift Coordinator or Production Supervisor immediately.
Ensure safe kiln operation by monitoring alarms, interlocks, and emergency shutdown conditions.
Support troubleshooting during operational disturbances and assist in maintaining continuous kiln operation.
Prepare accurate and detailed shift reports, including production performance, process conditions, abnormalities, and corrective actions taken.
Participate in kiln start-up, shutdown, and process stabilization activities according to plant procedures.
Assist production teams during preventive maintenance (PM) and shutdown activities related to kiln bricks and cooler casting.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including HIRARC, SWP, and plant operational guidelines.
Promote energy efficiency and process optimization through continuous monitoring and adjustment of kiln operating parameters.
Attend sectional meetings and operational discussions to review plant performance and improvement initiatives.
Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Shift Coordinator or Production Manager.
Job Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum 3 years of working experience in a related field, preferably in cement plant operations, kiln operation. Fresh graduates who are willing to learn and develop in kiln operations are also encouraged to apply.
Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, particularly kiln, calciner, preheater and clinker formation.
Experience in operating Distributed Control System (DCS) or Central Control Room (CCR) systems is an added advantage.
Willing to work on rotating shifts and able to support continuous plant operations.
