A Heritage of 400-year Practice For over four hundred years, Charterhouse has stood as a testament to the power of education and its ability to transform lives. From its humble beginnings in London, where it provided opportunities for forty “poor scholars”, to its current status as one of England’s great schools, Charterhouse has constantly evolved to meet the changing needs of learners. The architecture of our campus seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, symbolising Charterhouse’s commitment to embracing the new while honouring its rich past. Our heritage is not only reflected in our physical surroundings but also in our core values: perseverance, responsibility, moral courage, open-mindedness, and kindness. These values have been deeply ingrained in our school’s ethos throughout its history, guiding us as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of education. As we embrace the future, we draw strength from our roots, recognising the importance of preserving our traditions while remaining adaptable to the needs of today’s students.
