Summary

The Electrical Engineer leads daily operations and governance to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable electrical infrastructure. This role oversees operations, major works, and compliance while supporting STACK’s unwavering commitment to 100% uptime and concierge-level customer service. It provides after-hours escalation for incidents, leads electrical activities across shift teams, and manages complex issues, shutdowns, switching, and restoration. The Engineer ensures training and authorisation standards are met and works with stakeholders to improve safety, performance, and operational reliability.

Essential Functions

Uphold STACK’s 100% uptime objective by providing disciplined operational leadership and oversight of site electrical systems and associated work controls.

Ensure safe and compliant operation of HV and LV systems, including adherence to switching rules, site processes and required training/authorisation prerequisites.

Maintain real-time situational awareness of electrical system condition, redundancy state and risk indicators through EPMS/BMS and field verification.

Act as the primary electrical escalation point for shift teams, providing real-time guidance, diagnostic support and risk evaluation.

Lead the development, review and implementation of operational and maintenance procedures, including EOPs, MOPs and SOPs.

Coordinate major electrical activities including planned shutdowns, incident response, corrective maintenance, on-site troubleshooting and programmed maintenance.

Provide technical direction during planned maintenance, shutdowns, functional testing and energisations to ensure safe execution aligned to site procedures.

Review and provide input into risk assessments, switching plans, permit-to-work controls, isolations/LOTO and return‑to-service documentation.

Verify operational readiness following maintenance, resets, system changes or commissioning activities by confirming alarms, redundancy status, load paths and control sequences.

Ensure that all operational activities are carried out with due regard to Health and Safety, business risk and maintaining the 100% uptime criteria.

Act as the incident technical adviser for incidents.

Coordinate vendor activities affecting electrical systems, ensuring safe execution, alignment to site requirements and correct post‑work configuration.

Identify systemic risks, recurring faults, capacity constraints and design issues; escalate as required.

Improve operational documentation (SOPs, MOPs, EOPs), shift logs, CMMS data quality, handover standards and alarm handling procedures within the electrical workstream.

People

Model strong safety behaviour, operational discipline, and professionalism.

Provide coaching and technical mentoring to Shift Engineers and Technicians to strengthen team capability and consistency.

Reinforce clear shift communication, including structured escalation, accurate context, and effective handovers.

Ensure smooth information transfer between shifts to maintain operational continuity and support decision-making.

Support onboarding and technical familiarisation for new team members.

Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors for coordinated operations.

Represent Critical Operations professionally during customer engagements and contribute insights during meetings, reviews, and drills.

Competencies

Strong operational judgement in mission-critical environments with deep expertise in electrical systems, UPS/ATS, generators, protection behaviour, and switching.

Skilled in interpreting plant telemetry, protection responses, automation, and redundancy models.

Able to troubleshoot and stabilise issues under pressure.

Proficient in BMS/EPMS, CMMS, and data platforms.

Capable of coaching and developing technical teams, with strong communication for incidents and customer interactions.

Maintains calm authority during escalations, with strong coordination for work control, vendors, and RTS.

Drives continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

Mandatory

Chargeman B0 Cert of Competency, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Malaysia OR an Electrical Engineering qualification with relevant Malaysia registration.

Extensive experience in data centres or other mission‑critical facilities (utilities, hospitals, defence, industrial).

Demonstrated expertise operating and monitoring critical power systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs/PMMs, ATS/STS) and associated control systems.

Strong background in inspecting, triaging and stabilising critical plant under abnormal conditions.

Experience reviewing MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, risk assessments, switching plans and commissioning documentation.

Able to interpret SLDs, network diagrams, automation logic and OEM manuals.

Knowledge of permit‑to‑work processes, isolations/LOTO and operational risk frameworks.

Strong written and verbal communication for technical reporting, incident updates and customer briefings.

Work Environment

This is a Monday–Friday position with on‑call requirements to support after-hours incidents and escalations.

Work occurs across data halls, plant rooms, electrical/mechanical spaces and external plant areas; PPE required under site policy.

Participation in emergency response, readiness exercises and incident management activities is required.

Minimal travel expected; occasional travel between local STACK facilities may be required based on operational needs.
