Engineering Lead

Description

Lead and manage the engineering team to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable day‑to‑day maintenance and plant operations with a strong hands‑on approach.
Rebuild and strengthen the maintenance structure, documentation, systems, and technical know‑how following team turnover.
Develop, implement, and enforce preventive and predictive maintenance (PM) standards and schedules to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
Assess and optimize plant equipment, processes, manpower, and maintenance gaps to meet operational and production demands.
Drive machine improvements, reliability engineering, and continuous process optimisation initiatives across the facility.
Collaborate with production, quality, and other cross‑functional teams to deliver continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, CAPEX/OPEX planning, and provide technical input to consultants and regional teams.
Ensure full compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards, embedding a strong safety culture in daily operations.
Effectively lead and develop technicians, chargemen, PM officers, and contractors, including unionised, foreign, and outsourced workforces.
Mentor, coach, and develop team members to build capability, succession, and long‑term engineering strength.
Profile

Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
Proven expertise in engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing processes, with strong hands‑on leadership experience.
Deep understanding of manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and reliability practices.
Strong leadership and people‑management skills, including experience managing diverse and unionised workforces.
Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and best engineering practices.
Process‑driven and numbers‑oriented, with a clear focus on cost control and operational efficiency.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, optimize, and improve operational performance through data‑driven decision‑making.
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and mentoring skills, with the ability to develop junior engineers as the team scales.
