Why does this job exist and why is it critical?​

Work collaboratively with the business to identify savings opportunities during annual budget drafting by analysing spend data and market trends to propose cost-effective procurement strategies.
Proactively plan the sourcing events for the year with the Head of Division and his/her direct reports and secure alignments and buy-ins by developing a comprehensive sourcing calendar and presenting clear business cases.
Guide his/her category managers on tender strategy preparation by providing expert advice on market approaches, supplier selection criteria, and negotiation tactics to ensure optimal outcomes.
Guide his/her category managers on reviewing tender submissions by establishing clear evaluation frameworks and ensuring impartial assessment to select the best-value proposals.
Review the tender strategy/outcome with all stakeholders prior to presenting for final approval/award by facilitating collaborative review sessions, ensuring transparency and addressing any concerns before finalising procurement decisions.
Ensure the procurement cycle time is optimum and the sourcing activities are completed within the agreed timeline by proactively identifying and resolving obstacles and streamlining processes.
Proactively plan resources for his/her unit and mobilise accordingly by forecasting workload, allocating personnel effectively, and ensuring the team has the necessary tools and support.
Guide and coach his/her team members by providing regular feedback, identifying development opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
