Manager, Quality
Position Summary
The Manager, Quality is responsible for leading and overseeing all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities across Grain & Protein Technologies (GPT) manufacturing operations and supplier network. This role ensures GPT products, components, and integrated system solutions consistently meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
The position plays a critical role in strengthening supplier quality development across Asia through structured audit programs, corrective action management, and process capability improvement.
Beyond traditional quality control, this role requires strong technical understanding of GPT’s system-based solutions including ventilation equipment, cages, feeding and watering systems, grain storage equipment, structural components, and electronic control systems. The Manager, Quality will work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Commercial teams to drive product reliability, cost optimization, and sustainable margin improvement.
Key Responsibilities
-Quality Management System (QMS)
Lead implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of GPT’s Quality Management System aligned with ISO 9001:2015.
-Establish quality objectives, KPIs, and performance dashboards aligned with APAC operational and commercial targets.
-Drive standardization of inspection processes across internal manufacturing and external suppliers.
-Promote a strong culture of accountability, compliance, and operational excellence.
-Lead and develop QA/QC team capability through coaching and performance management.
Supplier Quality Management & Audits
-Develop and execute supplier quality strategy covering supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation.
-Conduct supplier audits locally and internationally to evaluate manufacturing capability and compliance.
-Travel overseas as required to perform on-site supplier audits and supplier development activities.
-Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes including: Welding and fabrication, Sheet metal punching and forming, CNC machining, Plastic injection molding (PVC, PP and engineering plastics), Galvanizing and corrosion protection processes, Powder coating and spray painting, Electrical component assembly, Structural steel and building material fabrication & Final assembly processes
-Lead Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
-Establish supplier performance scorecards covering quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
Product Quality Assurance
-Oversee incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final product validation.
-Identify and control critical quality characteristics within GPT systems and supplier manufacturing processes.
-Manage First Article Inspection (FAI) and supplier PPAP approvals where required.
-Ensure effective control, segregation, and disposition of non-conforming materials.
-Lead structured root cause analysis using: 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA, SPC, MSA
Customer Quality Management
-Manage major customer complaints and field quality concerns.
-Lead cross-functional investigation and corrective action implementation.
-Interface directly with key customers when required to present quality analysis and improvement actions.
-Drive systemic improvements based on customer feedback and field performance trends.
Continuous Improvement & Capability Development
-Promote quality awareness across GPT operations and supplier network.
-Lead cross-functional problem-solving initiatives targeting recurring or systemic issues.
-Deliver training programs covering inspection standards, workmanship criteria, and quality methodologies.
-Prepare executive-level quality performance reports for senior management review.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-Partner with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to improve product design robustness and manufacturing efficiency.
-Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through proactive quality planning and risk assessment.
-Support cost-down initiatives through supplier process optimization without compromising product performance.
Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Quality Management, or related discipline.
-Minimum 8–10 years quality experience within manufacturing or engineered equipment industry preferred.
-Minimum 3 years leadership or supervisory experience.
-Strong supplier quality management experience within Asia supply chain environment.
-Proven experience conducting overseas supplier audits.
-Experience supporting engineered system or project-based manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
-Experience in agricultural equipment, ventilation systems, grain handling equipment, livestock housing systems, or industrial equipment manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
