Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

Conduct risk assessments (HIRA/JSA) across assembly lines, body shop (welding), and production processes

Ensure compliance with local SHE regulations (DOSH/DOE) and internal plant safety standards

Monitor and enforce safe work practices and PPE compliance across all production areas

Oversee safety controls in automotive body shop welding operations (spot welding, robotic welding)

Identify and mitigate hazards related to production lines such as moving equipment, conveyors, welding fumes, and ergonomic risks

Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of preventive measures

Ensure environmental compliance in paint shop, wastewater, emissions, and scheduled waste handling

Support ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 systems, including audits and corrective action tracking

Deliver SHE training programs, including assembly line safety, welding safety, and hot work permits

Coordinate emergency preparedness and response, including fire drills and production-related incidents

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with SHE certification (NEBOSH/IOSH preferred)

3–5 years of SHE experience in automotive assembly or production plant environments

Hands-on experience in body shop / welding processes within automotive manufacturing

Strong knowledge of production line safety, welding hazards, LOTO, ergonomics, and risk assessment tools

Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and Malaysian regulatory requirements (DOSH/DOE)
