Job Description
1.Job Summary:
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and managing the overall sales function to achieve company revenue targets, business expansion, and customer satisfaction objectives. This role oversees the sales team, formulates strategic sales plans, strengthens customer relationships, and drives business development initiatives across assigned markets.
The Sales Manager is also responsible for monitoring market trends, analyzing competitor activities, ensuring effective sales execution, and supporting continuous improvement of sales performance and operational efficiency. A successful Sales Manager demonstrates strong leadership, commercial acumen, negotiation capabilities, and the ability to motivate teams while maintaining long-term client relationships and sustainable business growth.
This role is also expected to undertake ad-hoc assignments and responsibilities as directed by the superior or Management.
2.Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Business Development
Develop and implement effective sales strategies and business development plans to achieve company sales targets and revenue growth.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, market segments, and potential customers.
Lead strategic sales initiatives and expand the Company’s market presence across targeted industries and regions.
Monitor industry developments, market trends, competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer demands to identify growth opportunities and business risks.
Recommend tactical improvements to pricing, sales approaches, customer engagement strategies, and business positioning to remain competitive in the market.
Prepare sales forecasts, business plans, budgets, and sales projections for Management review and strategic planning purposes.
Sales Operations & Execution
Oversee the entire sales cycle, including prospecting, client engagement, proposal preparation, negotiation, closure, and post-sales support.
Review and monitor sales quotations, proposals, contracts, and commercial terms to ensure alignment with company objectives and customer requirements.
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth execution of customer orders, project deliveries, and after-sales support.
Monitor sales performance against KPIs, targets, and timelines while implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure proper sales documentation, reporting, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Client Relationship Management
Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with key customers, strategic partners, and stakeholders.
Conduct regular client visits, business discussions, and relationship engagement activities to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Handle major customer concerns, complaints, and escalations professionally and efficiently.
Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and account expansion within existing customer portfolios.
Ensure excellent customer service standards and continuous improvement in customer experience.
Market Research & Reporting
Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, business opportunities, and
customer expectations.
Collect and analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market intelligence to support business decisions and
continuous improvement initiatives.
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis to
Management.
Provide recommendations and strategic insights to support Management decision-making and business planning.
3.Authority
Authorized to lead and oversee daily sales operations and customer-related matters within assigned
responsibilities.
Authorized to negotiate pricing, quotations, contracts, and commercial terms within approved authority limits.
Authorized to recommend sales strategies, pricing adjustments, promotional activities, and business
development initiatives to Management.
Authorized to assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance to subordinate sales personnel.
Authorized to represent the Company during client meetings, negotiations, and business discussions.
4.Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of proven experience in sales and business development, including at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Strong track record in achieving sales targets, managing customer relationships, and driving business growth.
Industry experience in industrial supply, marine services, oil & gas, logistics, or related industries is highly
desirable.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically or overseas as required for business purposes.
Languages:
Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and business analysis software.
