Overview
The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring
exceptional service standards, and delivering an authentic Italian dining experience. The role requires a strong
understanding of Italian cuisine and sound knowledge of wines to enhance guest experience and drive revenue.
Assistant Restaurant Manager (Italian Speciality Restaurant)
Location: Kuala Lumpur
Salary Range: RM5,500 - RM6,500
Operation Hours: Lunch & Dinner Service
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service
. Oversee day-to-day floor operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
. Maintain high standards of guest experience and handle feedback professionally
. Ensure all service procedures and brand standards are consistently followed
Food & Beverage Expertise
. Demonstrate strong knowledge of Italian cuisine, including regional specialties and ingredients
. Guide guests on menu selections and upsell where appropriate
. Provide wine recommendations and support food and wine pairing
Team Leadership
. Supervise and support front-of-house staff during service
. Assist with recruitment, training, and ongoing staff development
. Monitor performance and maintain a positive team culture
Financial & Administrative Support
. Assist with staff scheduling and manpower planning
. Support cost control, stock management, and waste reduction
. Monitor daily sales and contribute to revenue growth
Compliance & Standards
. Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations
. Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the restaurant
. Adhere to company policies and SOPs
Requirements
. 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory role, preferably in an Italian or premium dining environment
. Strong background in Italian cuisine
. Good knowledge of wines and pairing principles
. Strong leadership and communication skills
. Well-presented, organised, and detail-oriented
. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours
Preferred
. Hospitality or wine certification (e.g. WSET)
. Experience in upscale Italian or bistro-style concepts
. Passion for Italian food, wine, and culture
. Commercially focused with strong business acumen
. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
. Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
. Must be based in or willing to relocate to Penang
