Job Summary
The Chinese Cuisine Chef is responsible for preparing authentic Chinese meals for non-Muslim employees, primarily Chinese expatriates, and occasionally for visiting guests and special events such as birthday celebration. This role will lead daily kitchen operations, ensure food quality and consistency, and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety. The Chef will support the company’s start-up phase by establishing kitchen routines and contributing to a comfortable dining environment for employees at the new factory in Malaysia.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook authentic Chinese cuisine to meet daily meal requirements for non-Muslim employees, especially Chinese expatriates.
Plan daily menus that are nutritious, balanced, and aligned with employees’ preferences.
Handle food preparation for visiting guests and company events when required.
Lead and manage kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and kitchen cleanliness.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of ingredients to maintain food quality and minimize waste.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in accordance with company policies and local regulations.
Monitor kitchen inventory, coordinate ingredient purchases, and manage stock levels efficiently.
Ensure that non-halal food preparation is handled appropriately and separately, in compliance with local practices and company guidelines.
Support the setup and organization of the kitchen during the factory’s initial start-up phase.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
Proven experience as a Chinese Cuisine Chef, preferably in a corporate, factory, or canteen setting.
Strong knowledge of authentic Chinese cooking techniques and traditional dishes.
Ability to cook for a group while maintaining taste consistency and quality.
Familiarity with kitchen hygiene, food safety standards, and basic inventory management.
Experience working overseas or in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations with minimal supervision.
Physically fit and able to work in a kitchen environment.
Willingness to work long hours and flexible hours when required (e.g., visitor meals or special occasions).
Basic communication skills in Mandarin are preferred; ability to communicate in English is an advantage.
