Physiotherapy Manager

Position Summary:

Provide practical and advisory physiotherapy service for patients and all medical, nursing and other allied health staff who are involved in their care

Initiate appropriate physiotherapy intervention programs for patients referred to the department.

Responsible for the smooth running of the Physiotherapy Department.

Responsible for hiring, supervising and evaluating physiotherapy staff.


Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Department to provide a comprehensive service to both inpatients and outpatients within the limits of human, physical and material resources.
2. Consult and collaborate with consulting physicians and other medical professionals in providing physiotherapy treatments in order to provide efficient and effective patient care.
3. Assess and evaluate physical disabilities caused by neurological disorders, stroke, diseases or injuries.
4. Treat conditions and help patients understand effects on their function.
5. Provide regular updates to advise staff and carers regarding the safe handling of patients.
6. Ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional standards.
7. Responsible for equipment used in the course of treatment and ensure maintenance and calibration in place.
8. Maintain and update patient records and documents.
9. Remain updated on the advances in physiotherapy where appropriate and ensure the implementation of such advances.
10. Responsible for all aspects of management and development of staff.
11. Prepare and administer the department budget.
12. Advise clients on how to manage their conditions independently and help them prevent avoidable recurrences or complications.
13. Establish and maintain
departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance
programs, safety environmental and infection control standards.
14. Plan and implement community fitness programs, if applicable.
15. Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned.


Education and Requirements:

Bachelors degree or Diploma in Physical Therapy from a University recognized by the Malaysian Board of Physical Therapy.

Must have completed mandatory clinical internship and met all legislative obligations to continue to practice in Malaysia.

A member of Malaysian Physiotherapy Association.

Attended specialized courses in Physiotherapy.

Five years of experience with at least 2 years as manager of same discipline

Have good oral and written communication skills (in English and Bahasa Malaysia).

Good customer skills.
