Programmer

Job Description:

Responsible for the design, programming, execution, and overall management of control system requirements for both standard and custom projects. This role provides or maintains program to the controls engineering team, ensures timely project delivery, and acts as a key technical interface with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Design, Programming & Technical Execution

Design, develop, program, test, debug, and document electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for all assigned projects.

Perform logic design, coding, system integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting in accordance with customer specifications and project requirements.

Ensure all programming and control solutions comply with applicable quality, safety, and industry standards.

Project Coordination & Management

Coordinate closely with project managers, service, and maintenance teams to ensure timely delivery, certification, and final acceptance of systems and equipment.

Prepare and manage project schedules related to programming, controls, and electrical engineering activities.

Conduct and participate in project meetings with management, customers, consultants, and subcontractors.

Supplier & Subcontractor Management

Interface directly with suppliers and subcontractors on programming, control, and electrical engineering aspects.

Manage and coordinate subcontractors to ensure system and equipment installation works are completed according to project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

Act as a key technical point of contact for customers on design, programming, and control-related matters.

Communicate project requirements, progress, technical issues, and solutions clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.

Documentation & Compliance

Prepare, review, and maintain complete project documentation required for customer approval, authority submission, certification, and final system acceptance.

Ensure documentation is accurate, up to date, and compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Quality Assurance & Site Oversight

Observe operations and inspect software program progress to ensure deliverables meet required quality, safety, and customer standards.

Ensure programming and controls engineering deliverables are aligned with internal quality assurance processes.

Customer Support & Issue Resolution

Take ownership of programming and control-related customer complaints.

Investigate, resolve, and respond to issues promptly with minimal inconvenience to the customer.

Keep customers informed of actions taken and provide clear resolution timelines.

Requirements:

Diploma, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or Professional Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.

Candidates should possess at least 5 years of professional programming experience, with a preference for those proficient in TIA Portal.

Proven experience in project execution, system integration, and leading technical teams.

Strong working knowledge of industrial PLC programming platforms (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Hitachi, or equivalent).

Solid understanding of quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin; additional languages are an advantage.
