Roaster

Responsibilities :

1. Roasting Operations

· Operate coffee roasting machines according to production schedules

· Roast green coffee beans to approved profiles and quality standards

· Adjust roast parameters (time, temperature, airflow) to maintain consistency

· Record roast data and batch logs for traceability

2. Quality Control & Cupping

· Conduct regular cupping sessions to evaluate roast quality

· Identify defects and recommend corrective actions

· Work closely with management to refine roast profiles

· Ensure flavor consistency across batches

3. Green Bean Handling & Inventory

· Receive, inspect, and store green beans properly

· Monitor green bean stock levels and usage

· Coordinate with procurement on bean requirements and forecasting

4. Equipment Maintenance

· Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of roasting equipment

· Identify basic mechanical issues and escalate for regular service & preventive servicing

· Ensure roaster, destoner, grinder, and related equipment are in good working condition

5. Production Planning

· Plan roasting volumes based on café, wholesale, and retail demand

· Support new product launches (single origin, blends, seasonal offerings)

· Meet delivery timelines and production targets

6. Packaging & Labelling

· Oversee or assist in packing roasted coffee

· Ensure correct labelling (origin, roast date, batch number)

· Maintain freshness standards and FIFO practices

7. Compliance & Safety

· Follow food safety, hygiene, and Halal workplace safety standards

· Ensure compliance with company SOPs and regulatory requirements

8. Collaboration & Support

· Work with sales, café, and training teams on product knowledge

· Support barista training on coffee profiles when required

· Assist in customer or partner tastings when needed

9. Continuous Improvement

· Stay updated on roasting techniques and coffee trends

· Propose improvements to efficiency, quality, and cost control

Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on experience:

· Develop new blends and roast profiles

· Train junior roasters or assistants

· Support sustainability and sourcing initiatives



Requirements :

· Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/ Bachelor's Degree in Food & Beverage Services Management or equivalent.

· Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in Coffee Industry with minimum 1 year experience in Coffee roasting is required for this position.

· Good understanding in food safety practices.

· Good understanding of green coffee sourcing, processing methods and post-harvest profiles.

· Independent and good team player.

· Familiarity with production, scheduling, or inventory systems is a plus.
