About Vuly Play
Vuly Play is a global leader in outdoor play equipment, renowned for its innovation, premium design, and relentless drive to reimagine play. We create the world’s best trampolines, monkey bars, swing sets, and more — and we’re always pushing the boundaries of product development. Our latest venture is creating platform that merges physical play with digital experiences.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to own the full engineering infrastructure stack for our connected game platform — from build systems and release pipelines to firmware OTA delivery, backend analytics support, and code quality standards.
You will be the backbone of our development workflow, ensuring every build is reproducible, every firmware binary is traceable, every release is versioned, and every OTA update reaches devices reliably. This role gives you end-to-end ownership across embedded firmware, cloud services, and DevOps practices, with real impact on product quality and team velocity.
Key Responsibilities
Build Environments & Tooling: Set up, maintain and document all build environments. Ensure full version control and reproducibility across development, staging and production. Containerise environments using Docker to standardise CI/CD pipelines and maintain a central configuration manifest for all project components.
Release Management: Own the end-to-end release process for all firmware, backend and analytics components. Coordinate cross-team release schedules to ensure safe, incremental rollouts with reliable rollback capability.
Code Standards & Templates: Define and enforce team-wide code standards, linting rules and directory conventions, support by using reusable templates and boilerplate generators to accelerate development. Integrate automated quality gates into the CI pipeline and maintain contributor documentation including style guide, PR checklist and onboarding runbook.
Infrastructure & Git Systems: Architect and manage the Git platform, branching strategy and cloud infrastructure using IAC tools, with container orchestration for backend services and data pipelines. Implement monitoring, logging and alerting to maintain infrastructure health and enable rapid incident response.
OTA Firmware Build & Distribution: Own the full firmware build-to-deploy pipeline. Manage OTA update infrastructure to deliver firmware and asset patches remotely, with support for staged rollouts, version validation and rollback on failure.
Backend Analytics Support: Support the deployment and scaling of analytics pipelines for gameplay telemetry, ensuring database infrastructure is optimised for high-write workloads and analytical queries. Maintain and improve deployment pipelines for internal dashboards, APIs and cloud sync services.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
5 + years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, with hands-on production experience
Strong proficiency with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar) including building pipelines that produce and manage binary artifacts.
Deep experience with Git workflows, branching strategies (including multi-platform branching), and release management practices.
Hands-on experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, or similar).
Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).
Experience managing cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) in a production environment.
Proficiency in at least one backend/scripting language (Python, Bash, Go, Node.js, or similar).
Experience with embedded firmware build toolchains (e.g., ESP-IDF, STM32CubeIDE, ARM GCC, CMake, or Makefile-based build systems).
Understanding of binary artifact management — building, splitting, versioning, and distributing compiled firmware binaries and asset files.
Nice-to-have
Experience designing and implementing OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware update systems for IoT or embedded devices.
Familiarity with STM32 and ESP32 ecosystems, including flashing tools (e.g., esptool, STM32CubeProgrammer, OpenOCD).
Experience with firmware signing, secure boot, or binary integrity verification for OTA delivery.
Familiarity with database administration (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and performance tuning.
Experience building analytics or data pipeline infrastructure.
Knowledge of IoT or device-to-cloud communication patterns (MQTT, CoAP, BLE).
Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch).
