Role Description
1. Electrical Design & Engineering
• Develop and refine Low Voltage (LV) electrical designs, including detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and schematic drawings.
• Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and voltage drop analysis to ensure system stability.
• Select appropriate circuit protection (MCCBs, MCBs, RCDs) and switchgear based on fault level calculations.
• Ensure all designs comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations and international standards (IEC/BS).
2. Control System & Panel Design
• Design Control Panels and Motor Control Centers (MCC), including layout and wiring diagrams.
• Integrate PLC hardware (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, or Omron) and specify I/O requirements for automated processes.
• Design motor control circuits involving Direct-On-Line (DOL), Star-Delta starters, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BQ) and select electrical components (contactors, relays, terminals) from reputable vendors.
3. Instrumentation & Process Control
• Select and specify process instruments including pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors suitable for hazardous or corrosive environments.
• Design instrument loops and specify signal types (4-20mA, HART, Modbus).
• Oversee the integration of instrumentation with the main control system to ensure accurate data logging and automated safety interlocks.
4. Project Execution & Hands-on Support
• Supervise on-site installation, cabling, and termination works to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Lead the testing and commissioning (T&C) of electrical panels and instruments.
• Perform troubleshooting of electrical faults and control logic issues on-site.
• Coordinate with mechanical and process teams to ensure seamless integration of E&I components with equipment like incinerators and separators.
Requirements
Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in instrumentation and control system design, analysis and implementation
Proficiency in using AutoCAD Electrical (Essential for SLDs and schematics) and PLC Programming software (Basic to Intermediate knowledge).
Knowledge of codes, standards and regulations related to instrumentation and control systems, such as ISA, IEC and NEC.
Deep understanding of 3-phase power systems and motor star-delta configurations.
Knowledge of ATEX/IECEx standards for equipment used in potentially explosive environments
Familiarity with industrial sensors and calibration procedures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with control system programming and software tools such as PLC programming, DCS programming or SCADA systems, is a plus.
