Job Description – Senior Electronic Engineer (Power Supply)
Industry: Performance Lighting Design & Manufacturing
Location: Lot 2889, Lebuh Kampung Jawa, FIZ Phase 3,11900 Bayan Lepas, Penang Malaysia Employment : Permanent Position
Reporting To: CTO/General Manager
Salary: MYR 12,000 – 20,000 per month (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday (Over-time is required as needed)
Position Overview
The Senior Electronic Engineer (Power Supply) is responsible for the design, development, validation, and optimization of power supply and power management solutions for high-performance lighting systems. This role requires deep expertise in power electronics, feedback loop design and measurement, thermal management, EMI/EMC compliance, as well as hands on ability to troubleshoot and optimize the design on the workbench.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and develop AC-DC and DC-DC power supply circuits for performance lighting applications.
· Define power architecture, protection schemes, and efficiency targets for lighting systems.
· Conduct circuit simulation, schematic design, PCB review, and component selection.
· Ensure compliance with safety, EMI/EMC, and regulatory standards applicable to lighting products.
· Perform power efficiency, thermal, reliability, and lifetime analysis.
· Support prototype validation, failure analysis, and production troubleshooting. Hands On workbench skills needed.
· Collaborate with mechanical, optical, firmware, and production teams to deliver integrated solutions.
· Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the electronics team.
Technical Requirements
· Minimum 5 years of experience in power electronics design.
· Strong expertise in AC-DC, DC-DC converters, SMPS, PFC, and LED driver design.
· Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, frequency response analyzers, power analyzers, thermal cameras, thermocouples, electronic loads, etc.
· Solid understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and compliance testing.
· Experience with thermal design, derating analysis, and long-life reliability design.
· Proficient in schematic capture and PCB review tools.
· Strong understanding of component selection, magnetics, and power semiconductor devices.
· Understanding of Control loop compensation and measurement using Frequency Response Analalizer to plot Bode plots.
Qualifications & Experience
· Degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in power supply or power electronics design.
· Experience in performance lighting, LED systems, or industrial power products is highly preferred.
· Experience supporting manufacturing, testing, and mass production environments.
· Understanding of international safety standards (IEC/UL/EN, etc.),
