Job Summary
The main role of this position is to protect the interest of the Group from legal perspective. The job holder will be involved in all legal matters which include reviewing agreements, assessing the legal risk of the Group and providing legal advice.
The job minimizes the legal risk of the Group and reduces the Group’s exposure to disruptions, losses and penalties arising from non-compliance of relevant laws and regulations and/or breaches of agreements.
Job Responsibilities
Constantly abreast with latest development of the laws, regulations and case laws related to the business and operation of the Group.
Prepare training materials and/or conduct training to raise awareness of the Group on legal development and highlight important legal points to protect the Group’s interest.
Draft and/or review the policies and procedures to set the Group’s standards and requirements; and guide the business units and support functions in respect of relevant laws and other legal, compliance and integrity matters.
Provide timely and quality advice and support to internal customers. Support internal customer in review and negotiation of agreements and legal matters with counterparties.
Review agreements, letter of appointment, undertaking letter etc. to protect the Group’s interest.
Support business units in the participation of negotiation of agreements and legal matters with counterparties.
Take initiatives to improve the processes of the operation of the department to increase efficiency, accuracy and productivity such as regular preparation of template agreements for adoption by business units.
Manage the legal costs incurred by the Group by comparing legal quotes and recommending external lawyers with relevant expertise at reasonable fees; and completing the work internally where possible.
Requirements
Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Law.
3 to 4 years of working experience in PUBLIC LISTED COMPANY & PRIVATE/CORPORATE practice and IN-HOUSE legal department will be prioritized.
Good drafting and computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
A team player who is able to work independently with minimal supervision and under a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong interpersonal, communication skills and proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
