Job Summary

The Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Malaysian accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. This role includes handling day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and supporting internal and external audits.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Maintain general ledger and support month-end and year-end closing activities.

Accounts Payable / Receivable
Process supplier invoices, staff claims, and payments promptly.
Prepare customer billing, track outstanding receivables, and follow up on collections.
Reconcile accounts with vendors and customers.

Taxation & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and IFRS.
Prepare and submit statutory filings such as SST, PCB, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, and Income Tax.
Liaise with tax agents, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
Monitor cash flow, banking transactions, and ensure proper fund management.

Audit & Internal Controls
Support internal and external audit processes.
Maintain proper documentation and implement strong internal financial controls.

Other Responsibilities
Manage asset registers and depreciation schedules.
Prepare costing reports or project accounting when required.
Perform ad-hoc tasks requested by management.


Requirements
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or MIA membership are an advantage.

Experience
Typically 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience (flexible depending on seniority).
Experience with Malaysian tax and statutory regulations is preferred.

Skills
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SQL, Autocount, Xero, SAP, Oracle).
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Attention to detail, accuracy, and good analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
