Assist in basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas, adhering to food safety standards.
Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment, ensuring all dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies and ingredients, practicing proper inventory management techniques.
Follow established procedures for waste disposal and recycling, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks, contributing to a positive team environment.
Adhere to food safety guidelines and regulations, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food items to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Manager to support the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment according to established hygiene standards and food safety regulations.
Assist in basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients under the guidance of chefs and cooks.
Ensure proper storage of food items and supplies, rotating stock to minimize waste and maintain freshness, while adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment, ensuring proper water temperature and detergent levels for effective cleaning and sanitation.
Empty trash and recycling bins regularly, maintaining a clean and organized work environment in compliance with health and safety guidelines.
Assist in receiving and unpacking deliveries of food and supplies, verifying quantities and quality against invoices and purchase orders.
Support kitchen staff in plating and garnishing dishes, ensuring presentation meets established standards.
Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handwashing, use of gloves, and prevention of cross-contamination.
Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
Manage inventory by assisting in tracking stock levels of cleaning supplies, dishwashing detergents, and other kitchen essentials, and informing the supervisor when reordering is necessary.
