ELV TECHNICIAN
Job Summary;
The ELV Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems at project sites. This includes security, communication and building automation systems such as CCTV, access control, networking, fiber optics and structured cabling systems. The role ensures all works are completed according to technical drawings, project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities;
Install ELV systems including CCTV, access control, fiber optics, intercom and structured cabling systems.
Carry out cable pulling, routing and termination works according to drawings and site instructions.
Install devices such as cameras, sensors, card readers, control panels and network points.
Technical Execution;
Read and interpret ELV layout drawings, schematics and system diagrams.
Execute installation works accurately based on technical specifications.
Assist engineers and supervisors in system setup and configuration.
Testing & Commissioning;
Conduct testing of ELV systems including CCTV viewing, access control functionality and system checks.
Assist in system commissioning and handover activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve system faults or installation issues on site.
Safety Compliance;
Comply with all site safety rules and company SOPs.
Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Attend daily toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
Ensure proper cable management to avoid hazards and maintain site safety standards.
Tools & Equipment Handling;
Properly use ELV tools and testing equipment.
Ensure tools are maintained in good condition.
Report any faulty tools or equipment to the supervisor.
Quality & Productivity;
Ensure all installations are completed with high quality and minimal defects.
Follow project deadlines and productivity targets.
Maintain neat, organized and professional installation work.
Teamwork & Coordination;
Work closely with supervisors, engineers and other technicians.
Communicate site progress and technical issues effectively.
Support team members to ensure smooth project execution.
Documentation & Reporting;
Report daily work progress to supervisor.
Assist in preparing site reports, testing records and handover documentation when required.
Record materials used and installation progress if required.
Requirements;
Minimum SPM / Certificate / Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or related field.
Experience in ELV systems (CCTV, Access Control, Networking) is an advantage.
Ability to read technical drawings is required.
Basic knowledge of ELV systems installation and troubleshooting.
Physically fit and able to work in construction site environment.
Willing to work overtime or travel to different project sites.
